Hand Therapy

Hand Therapy isn’t just therapy for the hand – it is the rehabilitation of the entire upper limb, which includes the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder girdle.

Hand therapy treatment may include splinting, wound care, management of swelling and scars, exercises, normalization of sensation, and education to facilitate a safe and timely return to work and daily activities.

Splinting

A custom orthosis made from thermoplastic material is a comfortable and effective way to support the joints of the hand and upper extremity.  This can help facilitate bony and soft tissue healing, assist with the resolution of pain and inflammation, protect joints, and improve function.

Wound Care

Wound care involves ongoing wound assessment and management techniques such as debridement, cleansing and dressing to facilitate the healing of a wound.”
